Bibbigard safety element torque limiters incorporate a number of safety element modules of a specific size mounted between two flanges and preset to release at a specified torque value in order to protect the drive system from expensive damage and lost production. They can be used with various types of drive medium many of which are available from Altra Industrial Motion. Bibbigard has been successfully utilized in many different industries where, subject to space availability, the release torque capacity is virtually unlimited.

The Model HBA is an oil-immersed brake designed for use on a drive train shaft extension. Unique friction plate grooving patterns, as well as the forced oil cooling feature allow the Model HBA brake to dissipate the heat generated by stopping the high energy loads common to today's heavy duty industrial equipment. The Model HBS brake is identical to the Model HBA brake, except the unit is designed to be spring-set.
Available with pneumatic or hydraulic actuation.
Torque range from 45,000 to 1,035,000 in. lbs.

The exclusive use of the involute helicoid thread form on the worm and gear provides for high efficiencies and long service
life. The hardened, ground and polished alloy steel worm develops a smooth, work hardened surface on the bronze gear. For this reason, the worm gears wear in and improve with prolonged service while other gears are wearing out.

This line of electrically-released, dynamic, spring-set brakes (ERD) offers a high-performance, cost-effective solution for power-off load holding applications. With the removal of electrical power, whether accidentally or intentionally, they may be applied in any dry environment where a severe and dependable braking action is required. Torque range from 4 to 220 lb.ft.
